WHO: Cari Champion is a distinguished broadcast journalist and television personality who has significantly impacted and advanced the sports media industry for women today. As the host of her eponymous show, “The Cari Champion Show,” which aired on Amazon, she has engaged audiences with an unfiltered portrayal of sports. Champion recently hosted CNN's New Year's celebration and is frequently seen as a regular contributor to the network. Champion is dedicated to mentoring and advocating for women of color in sports television and broadcasting. Through her foundation, Brown Girls Dream, she empowers the next generation of media professionals.
Jemele Hill is an Emmy Award–winning journalist, Webby Award-winning podcast host, author and co‑founder of Lodge Freeway Media. Hill began her career at the Raleigh News & Observer and later held prominent roles at ESPN, including national columnist, SportsCenter anchor, and co‑host of “His & Hers.” Her 2022 memoir, “UPHILL: A Memoir,” chronicles her life and career, and she was named Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists in 2018. A Detroit native, Hill graduated from Michigan State University in 1997 with a degree in journalism and married Ian Wallace in 2019.
